Book Chat: Moon Over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool won the Newbery Award. In 1936, Abilene Tucker is sent by her father, Gideon, to live in Manifest, Kansas while he works on the railroad during the Great Depression. During her stay, Abilene and friends uncover the story of the town's scandalous past. The shocking ending left me in tears while reading it to myself and again while reading it to the students. One of the best books I've ever read! Call No.: FIC VAN (Newbery)
